 เพลงนี้จอห์นแต่งขึ้นตอนที่นอนอยู่ข้างๆภรรยาคนแรกของเขา จอห์นมองดูภรรยาที่หลับไปแล้วและคิดว่าในขณะที่เธอหลับไหล เธออาจกำลังเดินทางข้ามผ่านบางสิ่งบางอย่างอยู่ ความคิดนี้ดังซ้ำอยู่ในหัวเขาซ้ำแล้วซ้ำเล่าจนเขาต้องลุกจากเตียง เดินลงมาที่ชั่นล่าง และเริ่มแต่งเพลงนี้ออกมาค่ะ
